About the midwives
Celeste Groenenberg CPM, LM, BSM
My journey in midwifery began in 1995 when I was pregnant with my daughter, Sage. I was amazed at the miraculous, yet natural process of the childbearing year. With the emergence of my daughter at home, I was empowered, as with her birth I blossomed from a teenager into a woman and a mother. My path to midwifery was paved. I knew I wanted to support mamas and babies to experience beautiful, monumental, empowering, physiologic, natural births. I began my journey as an apprentice midwife. I subsequently birthed 4 more babies at home. With my last daughter, Lyla Luz, being born into my hands in our barnhouse here in Michigan.
I have worked with over 16 midwives at home and in birth centers in Nevada, Utah, Oregon and Washington. In 2013, I received the CPM credential http://nacpm.org/about-cpms/who-are-cpms/the-cpm-credential/. In 2014, I became a Licensed Direct Entry Midwife (State of Utah). In 2015, I was granted a BSM (Bachelor of Science in Midwifery) from the Midwives College of Utah https://www.midwifery.edu. As of August 2019, I am part of the first group of midwives to be licensed in Michigan. I have been blessed to be able to attend breech, twins, VBAC's and many water births. I have attended over 700 births thus far,
I love serving mamas and babies. I love the wild, spontaneous nature of birth. I love supporting babies in optimum health. I am a naturalist, and I am passionate about organic, holistic, integrative health care. I am a continuous learner. I enjoy bodywork and movement and how that optimizes the most functional labor patterns.
In my free time, I love being with my children, furry children (dogs & cats), feathery girls (chickens) and husband. I love yoga and other types of body movement. I also enjoy being in nature, hiking, travel, learning more about midwifery, herbs and natural health. I also enjoy sewing and crafting.
